Auto-Claiming Substitute Requests
Does a new commitment claim a substitute request?
When an adorer makes a new adoration commitment on the Schedule or Calendar pages, and that commitment covers an open substitute request, the substitute request is claimed automatically.
The adorer who requested the substitute is notified that one was found, and administrators and captains are notified that the substitute request was automatically matched.
Keeping the Hour's Minimum Adorers
When a new commitment auto-claims a substitute request, the new adorer takes the place of the adorer who requested the substitute, rather than adding to the hour's coverage. For an hour that needs more than one adorer, that could quietly leave it short. So before claiming, We Adore Him checks whether the hour would still meet its minimum number of adorers.
- If it would, the substitute request is auto-claimed.
- If it wouldn't, the substitute request stays open so a separate substitute can still be found, and the new adorer counts as an additional adorer for that date.
When a Commitment Covers a Substitute Request
A commitment date claims a substitute request only when it covers its start time and duration.
The Hour's Requirements Still Apply
A substitute request is claimed automatically only when the new adorer is eligible for it, including the hour's group restrictions and whether it needs a male adorer. Substitute requests for hours that were closed after they were made are left alone as well.
When an administrator or captain creates a commitment on an adorer's behalf, group and male adorer requirements can be set aside, the same as when they assign a substitute and an exception is warranted.
Which Substitute Request Is Claimed First
When more than one open substitute request could be covered on the same date, a substitute request from a specific adorer comes first, before a generic substitute request.
