Commitment Start Times and Durations

Can an adoration commitment be something other than 1 hour?

We Adore Him is designed to support the traditional devotion of a "holy hour."

Accordingly, for simplicity and easier scheduling:

  • Adoration commitments start at the top of the hour.
  • Adoration commitments are one hour long.

However, you can optionally enable additional commitment start times and durations (see below).

Additional Start Times and Durations

When this feature is enabled, adorers can choose to start their commitment up to 30 minutes before or after the top of the hour, and select a duration anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours.

Enable this feature with the Enable additional commitment start times and durations field at Admin » Settings » Schedule.

What Changes?

When enabled, adorers will see two additional options when creating a new commitment: a Start Time dropdown to adjust when their commitment begins, and a Duration dropdown to choose how long their commitment lasts.

In various places around your We Adore Him website, commitments with non-default start times or durations will display their details.

On the Schedule page and Calendar page, commitments that span multiple hours appear in each hour they overlap.

Please note: If you enable this feature, we highly recommend using the Admin » Timeline page to spot gaps caused by short commitments or offset start times.

Regarding Schedule Time Slots

The time slots on the Schedule and Calendar pages are assumed to be one hour long.

If circumstances require a particular time slot to be less than a full hour, you might add a custom title to the hour explaining that it starts late or ends early. Learn more.
