Set a Default Commitment Reminder Time

When an adorer makes an adoration commitment in We Adore Him, they can receive a reminder notification before their hour by email, text message, or phone call. Until now it defaulted to three hours before (though adorers could change it). Now you can set a different default for your chapel.

Two New Settings

On the Admin » Settings » Commitments page, you'll find two new options for how far in advance reminders are sent:

  • Default reminder lead time for new commitments - The default for regular commitments, replacing the previous fixed three hours before.
  • Default reminder lead time for substitute commitments - A separate default for the one-time commitments created when someone claims a substitute request.

For example, a parish can remind adorers a full day ahead of their regular hour, giving them plenty of time to request a substitute if something comes up, while still sending substitute reminders just a few hours before.

Smart Overnight Timing

Nobody wants a reminder in the middle of the night. If your chosen lead time would land during overnight hours, We Adore Him automatically shifts the reminder earlier, into the daytime of the evening before. For instance, a 6 AM commitment with a one-day lead time will be reminded at 8 PM two evenings prior, rather than at 6 AM the day before. Learn more about how this works.

Updating Existing Commitments

Your new default applies going forward, but you can apply it to existing commitments too. On the Admin » Commitments page, select the commitments to update, then choose Set reminder lead time from the bulk edit options. The overnight timing is applied automatically to each one.

Adorers Still Have the Final Say

Your default is just a starting point. Adorers can still pick their own timing for any commitment, now up to 48 hours before, which takes precedence over the site default.
