In We Adore Him, when an adorer makes a commitment for a time that already has an open substitute request, that substitute request is claimed automatically.
Auto-claiming a substitute request makes the new adorer a replacement for the adorer who requested the substitute, not an additional adorer. So before claiming, We Adore Him checks whether the hour would still meet its minimum number of adorers.
- If it would, the substitute request is claimed as usual.
- If it wouldn't, the substitute request stays open so a separate substitute can still be found, and the new adorer counts as an additional adorer for that date.
For chapels that ask for two adorers in every hour, this keeps an hour from quietly falling short.
