Importing Commitments

How do I import our list of adoration commitments?

Every adorer can have multiple adoration commitments. Thus, we split the import process into two actions.

After you import your list of adorers, it's time to create commitments manually or import them in one fell swoop.

Note: if your spreadsheet has one row per commitment with the adorer's contact information repeated on each row, you can import the adorers and commitments together in a single pass.

Step 1: Prepare the Commitments Data

Please download the We Adore Him Commitments CSV template (or the Excel version) and open it in a spreadsheet editor.

Then, copy and paste (or type) your adorer's commitment information into the template.

Please note:

  • Leave the headers in the first row and enter your first adorer in the second row.
  • The column order is not essential, and we ignore any columns except those that we expect, so feel free to manipulate this template however you need to.
  • The Name field is required and must match an existing adorer account.
  • The Day field is required and must be in a format like Monday, Mon, or Mo.
  • The Time field is required and must be in a format like 1pm, 1:00 PM, or 13:00.
  • The Duration field is required and must be between 15 minutes and 2 hours, in 5-minute increments. Accepts raw minutes like 60, or friendly formats like 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 1 hour 30 minutes.
  • The Frequency field is required and must be weekly or daily. At this time, it's not possible to import commitments with other frequencies; set those aside and create them manually.
  • The Reminder field is optional. To enable a commitment reminder notification, enter email, text, or call.

When finished, save the file. Excel files (.xlsx) and CSV files (with a .csv extension; "CSV UTF-8" in Microsoft Excel) are both supported.

Step 2: Import the Commitments

Visit Admin » Import, choose Commitments, and select the file you just prepared.

On the next screen, confirm how the columns in your file map to the fields in our system. We make our best guesses based on column names; you can adjust them or skip a column. Click Continue when the mapping looks right.

On the review screen, you'll see how many commitments are ready to import and how many rows had issues. If something needs fixing, you can correct it in your file and upload a new version without starting over. Click Import when you're ready.

Please note: if some rows have problems, the rest of your commitments will still be imported and we'll list the rows that were skipped. You can then fix those rows and re-upload to finish the job.
